"In March of this year, I announced to our employees and to the whole country that CBC/Radio-Canada had to cut 800 jobs to make up a budget shortfall of
171 million dollars for the fiscal year from April 1st, 2009, to March 31st, 2010. The past few months have been neither easy nor pleasant, but we did what we had to do.
